The best organic wineries in the Penedes
1. Llopart
The history of the Llopart winery dates back to the 14th century. As documented in a Latin parchment of 1385, an ancestor of the Llopart family, Bernardus Leopardi, received the concession of some vineyards in the current Heredad can Llopart de Subirats.
Llopart currently has 102 hectares of organically farmed mountain vines growing in the Miocene soils of the Ordal mountains, which are between 240 and 420 m above sea level.
Llopart is a co-founding member of Corpinnat, the collective brand that distinguishes the outstanding sparkling wines produced in the heart of the Penedès, with 100% organic, hand-picked native grapes and vinified on the property.
It is located in the foothills of Ordal, with fantastic views over the Penedés region and the mountains of Montserrat. It is ideal for all wine-tasting experiences, from winery tours to a ride in a vintage car through the estate’s vineyards.
You can choose the Reserva tour from 28 €, a classic winery tour with cava tasting; the Leopardi visit from 45€ (with a privacy supplement), which includes lunch in the former Leopardi house; or a vintage car ride through the vineyards for 80€.
2. Eudald Massana Noya
The Eudald Massana winery is another biodynamic cellar. It has nine generations of history and has been making wines for over two centuries.
The winery is an authentic Catalan house, also called a farmhouse. It has beautiful views of the vineyards, with a lovely terrace. Where to taste the wines and sparkling wines of the winery.
A dirt road also passes there, which is ideal for cycling. If you enjoy bike rides, I recommend the electric bike tour with a tasting at the Eudald Massana winery.

3. Giró del Gorner
Another highly recommended winery is the Giró del Gorner. It is a small family winery in the DO Cava with a long tradition of producing wines and sparkling wines.
As early as the 16th century, they offered wine to the caravans that traveled from Barcelona to Vilafranca. A tradition that continues to this day and now it is wine enthusiasts who enjoy its hospitality.
The garden and the house still have the original charm. Here, you can sit under the shade of a tree and taste the wines aging at this winery.
As an activity, I especially recommend the picnic overlooking the vineyards. It is an original way to spend the day with family and friends. Natural products from the region: cheeses, Spanish omelet, homemade sausage, tomato bread …
4. Cava Guilera
We are finishing this post with the smallest winery on the list. It specializes in aging caves and long aging and produces 30,000 bottles per year.
To give you an idea, in the Penedés, there are no more than five wineries specializing in aging caves. With a maturation of over 2 years old, some of its sparkling wines reach up to 14 years of aging.
Thus, it is the best place to enjoy a cava pairing. Of course, it is accompanied by delicious cheese from the house Xerigots and very well-made chocolate from the chocolatier Simon Coll.
In addition, pairings are enjoyed in the winery’s garden. It has a beautiful pergola and very nice views of Montserrat’s mountain. In short, it is a perfect picture of the Penedés: caves, nature, and Montserrat in the background.
Another advantage is that Cava Guilera is next to a train station. Specifically, the Lavern train station, where the R4 that connects Barcelona with Sant Vicenç de Calders passes.
5. Albet i Noya
We finish this post with the first organic winery in the Penedés. This winery has been cultivating and maturing its wines with ecological methods since 1978, a pioneering project that is now a trend. There are many environmental and biodynamic wineries in the Penedes.
But this winery goes even further. It has two ambitious projects: the project to recover ancestral varieties and the VRIAACC project, which aims to generate autochthonous varieties resistant to climate change. Learn more about the latter project here.
But the most valuable thing for the visitor is undoubtedly the garden overlooking the vineyards. It rests in the shade of lush trees and offers fantastic views of the surrounding vineyards and mountains.
